Cape Quarter welcomes on-trend shared workplace and hot-desking offering

Category News

Neighbourgood Cape Quarter will offer both hot desking and private office solutions as well as boardroom and meeting room access.  Murray Clark of Neighbourgood explains that there will be several flexible membership options available:

"Hot desking is available in half-day (R125), 1-day (R200) and 5-day passes (R800), as well as dedicated and non-dedicated monthly memberships - at a cost of only R1800 for non-dedicated and R2300 for dedicated."

"Then there are private offices, which can be rented as furnished (for R2750 per month) or unfurnished (R2200) per month and offer un-capped wi-fi, a concierge and reception service, a communal kitchen and common area, and shower facilities.  Hot-deskers also have access to all of these facilities," says Clark.  "Private office tenants have optional access to boardroom facilities as well as undercover parking at an additional cost of R1000 per month for a non-dedicated bay or R1500 for a dedicated bay."

"We also have a range of meeting rooms available that can be hired hourly, half-day or full-day - needs dependent.  Clark explains that in order to further support local businesses in a spirit of collaboration, all the furniture in the furnished private offices has been sourced from local Cape Town designers and manufacturers and is modern, sleek, practical and comfortable.

Neighbourgood have created an app which allows members to book a boardroom, parking bay, desk or event space directly from the platform.  It is a digital experience for members to connect and network with the rest of the Neighbourgood community.

Bruce Rogerson, Asset Manager for the Tower Property Fund, explains that Tower decided to repurpose a portion of the commercial office space at the Cape Quarter to trendy shared office space in response to consumer demand.

"The collaborative or shared workspace trend is a fast growing one as more and more South Africans look for convenience, coupled with affordability and flexibility."

"We have seen a distinct shift in patterns away from fixed-term rentals towards flexible workspaces.  This was intensified by the arrival of Covid-19 and the uncertainty that some businesses have about the immediate future, and so the Neighbourgood Cape Quarter offering fits their needs perfectly.  Added to this, there are no additional costs for utilities, connectivity and cleaning - the price you pay is all-inclusive, which helps many businesses and entrepreneurs at this time."

"Another perk to highly flexible collaborative workspaces is that businesses can grow and contract as and when they need, without having to factor in rental space and rental cost commitments associated with fixed leases," says Rogerson.

According to St John Gardner of Spire Property Solutions, who manage the Cape Quarter on behalf of Tower, whether you are an entrepreneur just launching a new business, a one-person show, a consultant or an established business looking for modern, on-trend, flexible and affordable workspace, the Cape Quarter Neighbourgood offering will work for you.  "Members also enjoy additional discounts from the local coffee shops and other businesses with the Cape Quarter precinct - all part of the collaboration, which is the future of business in SA."
